Do you know what I think is so mind-blowingly amazing?

When you change the foods you eat to more nutrient-dense, real delicious whole foods and clean up your environment (the best you can) so you are using natural nontoxic home and personal-care products, you can help to improve the condition of your hair, nails and skin.

These simple things can help you to glow from the inside out.

Isn’t that awesome?!?

Just in case you missed my first two posts on glowing from the inside out, I invite you to read all about what I love to call Health Inspired Beauty.

When you’ve finished getting up to speed with the basics, it’s time to get into the kitchen with my Simple Recipes for Health Inspired Beauty so that you can create some deliciously natural beauty products that your body will love.

And today I want to talk about helping you succeed when you are implementing all of the tips and tricks that I’ve talked about in my past two posts.

The following are my recommendations of what I have personally used and found to work over the years.

If it made it to this post, I’ve tried it, tested it and loved it, and that will help you take the guess work out of where to start to get going.

So let’s get down to business here and have some fun!

Sensational Scents

In my previous posts, I talked about how harmful and toxic commerically-created perfumes can be to our bodies.

So what’s a gal to do when she wants to smell amazing?

Instead of using commercially-created perfume, consider using high-quality essential oils.

When using essential oils, choose simple oils that make you feel good and uplifted.

I love lavender and peppermint and orange.

I have actually discovered a brand of essential oils that trumps all of the others that I have used over the years and now exclusively use this line of oils.

If you’d like more information about which essential oils I choose for myself and the ones I love, please feel free to email me and I’m happy to share the information with you too.

If you feel you absolutely cannot live without commercially-produced perfume, this is what I recommend:  Lay the outfit you are going to be wearing on a flat surface and spray the perfume on the outside of your outfit before you put it on.

Let the perfume completely dry, and then put your outfit on.

By doing this, you won’t be getting the perfume on your delicate skin, as it will be on the outside of your clothing.

Remember that many people (including myself) are highly sensitive to commercially-produced perfumes, so please use your perfume sparingly and go for a dab instead of a dowse.  It’s MUCH appreciated. :0)

Simple Skin Care

beauty from the inside out, health inspired beauty, inspired beauty, successful beauty, inspired health & happiness, laurie driggers, how to have healthy skin, how to have healthy hair, how to have healthy nails, natural beauty easy, natural beauty simpleI don’t generally slather moisturizer all over my body and I never use creamy commercially-produced moisturizers, which are very often filled with chemicals and substances that can actually be the cause of wrinkles instead of improving the quality of your skin.

When I want add a little more softness to my skin, my favorite, favorite, favorite moisturizer for my skin is organic raw coconut oil.

I cannot say enough great things about this powerful and inexpensive product.

I love to use it on my face and my whole body.

When using it on my face, I usually use a tiny bit (about the size of a quarter of a dime), rub it between my hands, apply it to my face and then wipe the excess off.

My skin literally glows (and it smells great).

Other great oils to use on your skin would be organic Morrocan argan oil, jojoba oil or almond oil, to name a few.

Like I said, use these oils sparingly, as a little goes a long way.

Switching to using oil as a moisturizer, I am sure that you will notice a huge difference in your skin in no time flat.

It contains something that’s called seabuckthorn, which is amazingly awesome for your skin.

For store-bought products, MyChelle Dermaceuticals and Dr. Hauschka make some fantastic products too.

If you do a little bit of research, you should be able to find other organic non-toxic skin care products that work well for you.

Use your favorite search engine, put on your investigator hat and search away.

There are many new and amazing companies that are born every day that produce wonderful organic non-toxic skin care products.

It’s up to you to find a great product that works well with your skin.

Harmless Hair Care

When it comes to hair care products, there are lots of options.

beauty from the inside out, health inspired beauty, inspired beauty, successful beauty, inspired health & happiness, laurie driggers, how to have healthy skin, how to have healthy hair, how to have healthy nails, natural beauty easy, natural beauty simpleI have, in the past, used totally natural hair care — organic raw honey cut with organic apple cider vinegar.

This worked amazing and the only issue that I ran into was that one day one of my friends told me my head smelled like a salad.

Honestly, that cracks me up to think about what she said to this day!!

I used the No Poo method for months, which consisted of washing your hair with water/baking soda and rinsing it with water/apple cider vinegar.

That worked wonderful and then after about 6 months I wanted to switch to something else.

Currently, I use either plain old Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Magic Soap or some luxurious Living Libations’ Seabuckthorn Shampoo, which again, is one of my faves.

Can you tell I adore this company? :0)

For conditioner, a rinse of water and apple cider vinegar work well, as does some mashed avocado.  That’s one of my faves too.

I very rarely use hair spray, and on the extremely rare occasion I do, I use the Aubrey Organics Super Hold Hairspray.

It works really great and is not loaded with tons of chemicals.

Remember, there are loads of organic, non-toxic hair products out there and if you do a little investigating, you will find one that you love, too.

I want to give you a few recommendations when it comes to deodorant.

First of all, you can make your own homemade deodorant very easily with nonaluminum baking soda, cornstarch, coconut oil and a few drops of tea tree and lavender essential oils.

This works really well and is a recipe that I use frequently.

My ultimate FAVORITE brand of nontoxic deodorant is Schmidt’s natural deodorant. I personally use the fragrance-free sensitive skin formula and it really works.  Let me repeat… IT. REALLY. WORKS.

After trying literally every nontoxic deodorant that I could get my hands on only to be disappointed with the results, I want doing cartwheels in my mind across a lovely meadow when I stumbled upon this lovely gem called Schmidt’s.  Try it.  You will thank me for sure.

I also have used the Thai Crystal Deodorant Stone (pictured above) and Thai Crystal Mist Deodorant products for years.  They both work really great for me.

When using the Thai Crystal Deodorant Stone, you wet the stone, then apply it after you have just taken a shower.

Do not… I repeat… do not wet the stone and apply it if you have any odor under your armpits.

If you do this, it will pull the odor smell into the stone, and then your stone will be stinky and it will be headed for the trashcan.

Personally, I like the Thai Crystal Mist Deodorant because all you do is spray the mist under your arms, and you’re ready to go.

And there’s no danger of giving your stone BO.

Love-Your-Body Laundry

beauty from the inside out, health inspired beauty, inspired beauty, successful beauty, inspired health & happiness, laurie driggers, how to have healthy skin, how to have healthy hair, how to have healthy nails, natural beauty easy, natural beauty simpleThere are lots of nontoxic laundry products out there on the market.

You can make your own by searching for DIY laundry detergent recipes online.

And if going the DIY route isn’t your thing, some great brands to use include soap nuts (pictured to the left) or Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds.

Be sure to skip the toxic dryer sheets and choose to use dryer balls to soften your clothing and reduce static electricity naturally.

If you incorporate one of these tips and tricks a week over the next few months, you will be well on your way to helping your body when it comes to strengthening your detoxification pathways and glowing from the inside out.

To your health and happiness….
