Hello Potential Cleanser!

If you have burning questions about my Back to Basics Seasonal Cleanses, you’ve come to the right place.  I have laid out all of the most commonly-asked Cleansing FAQs in an easy-to-follow format below.

WILL I BE STARVING DURING THE CLEANSE?

Not on my Back to Basics Seasonal Cleanses! There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and even desserts! Throughout your program, I encourage you to listen to your body and eat snacks in between meals if you need a snack. Every meal is delicious and created by a fabulous chef to nourish your body from the inside out. This program is not about starving or depriving yourself, and we are not counting calories or dwelling on carbs. You will feel satisfied with every bite you take.

CAN I STILL WORK OUT DURING THE PROGRAM?

Again, I absolutely encourage you to listen to your body during this program.  If you feel tired or have low energy and need a day to rest, then I recommend resting.  With that said, exercising restores both strength and energy, so I encourage you to find a type of exercise that works for you, whether that be going to the gym, taking a nice leisurely walk outside, taking a yoga or Zumba class or even planting seeds in your garden. During this program you will be eating high-quality protein and drinking plenty of liquids, so if you’re already exercising, there’s no reason to stop! It is important to remember that whenever you change the foods you eat, your body changes as well. Please consult with your doctor/health care practitioner if you have any specific concerns about your health.

WHAT SORT OF PROTEIN WILL I BE EATING?

It doesn’t matter if you’re raw vegan, Paleo, vegetarian, eat a traditional diet, are vegan or don’t quite have a label for what you eat, this cleanse will work for you. You will have the option to eat high-quality plant- and/or animal-based proteins, which are listed out for you in your cleansing program. There are many “clean-eating protein sources” to choose from, so you won’t get bored with your options!

AM I ONLY GOING TO BE DRINKING JUICES AND SMOOTHIES?

 No way! While there are delicious juices and smoothie recipes for you to choose from in your recipe guide, you will also be eating salads, soups, cooked and/or raw entrees and even desserts that are delicious, nutritious and will help to eliminate toxins in your body in a safe, gentle and natural way.  If you don’t have a juicer, no worries!  During your program I share with you my super ninja secret of how to juice without using a juicer and make a green drink that will knock your socks off in 30 seconds flat.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE HERBS, SUPPLEMENTS, PILLS AND/OR POWDERS?

That’s another big no way!  The only supplement I recommend that everyone take on a daily basis is a high-quality probiotic, and you’ll learn why during this program.

CAN I DO THIS CLEANSE IF I’M NURSING OR PREGNANT?

If you are nursing, I suggest that you add at least 4 to 6 ounces of high-quality protein at lunch and dinner, boost your morning smoothie with a scoop of hemp or sprouted pea protein and eat snacks in between meals, make sure you are consuming extra high-quality fat and drinking enough liquids. This program does not include any detox-provoking agents and is very gentle because it is whole-foods based.  If you are pregnant or nursing, I do require that you consult with your doctor/health care practitioner prior to starting this program.

WILL I FEEL WEAK DURING THE PROGRAM?

You are going to feel so strong and energized that it will amaze you! In the beginning, your body may go through a “healing phase” in which your body rebalances itself and releases toxicity. It is important to listen to your body throughout your program, and I will be here to support you every step of the way. I will guide you step by step through exactly what can be done to reduce any unwanted symptoms that may appear. This program is completely flexible for figuring out what works for YOU.

I DON’T EAT GLUTEN OR DAIRY. HOW CAN THIS PROGRAM HELP ME?

Many people who eat very “clean” already still have room to empty out the pipes with an elimination diet and take their healthy habits to the next level. Changing up the foods we eat gives our digestion time to rest and reset, which can be helpful for anyone, regardless of their current eating habits.

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS MIGHT I EXPERIENCE?

Some people go through this program and feel nothing but energized, while others may feel tired or light-headed as their bodies eliminate and let go of unnecessary toxins. The experience will differ from one person to the next, and this program is designed with that in mind.  Remember, you’ll have access to all the tools you need to keep any unwanted symptoms at bay.

I HAVE A KNOWN MEDICAL CONDITION. IS THIS STILL SAFE FOR ME?

While this program is based on eating only whole real foods, it is still advised that you consult your doctor/health care practitioner before beginning this or any program.  If you have a specific health concern or medical condition, it is advised that you consult your doctor/health care practitioner.
